Funding for change

The Martinborough Fair generates around $100k per year which is held in trust for use by the South Wairarapa Rotary Club in plans and projects designed to benefit the residents and visitors of the South Wararapa.

The Environment Committee considers requests for funding and is thrilled to help individuals and groups take their plans from grass roots to the canopy.

Working for change

The Environment committee works with groups and individuals to achieve their goals. They also develop their own ideas and provide the brains and hands to make them work.

Wetland Development

Mangatete wetland

Rotary Club members have rallied around Kahutara school's wetland project, providing plants, expertise, funds and manpower.

The wetland is an effective and fun teaching aid in the school's nature curriculum

Wairio Wetland Project

SW Rotary are pleased to have been able to help Ducks Unlimited in their partnership with DOC as they develop and manage this wetland wonderland in South Wairarapa.

Rotary have provided funding and turned up with spades and wellies on planting days for many years now.

Community Projects

Morison's Bush

Over the years the secret has leaked out about this beautiful, pristine area available for camping by the river for a nominal fee.

Tate's Reserve

For over 20 years the reserve has been maintained by The Rotary Club of South Wairarapa in association with The Department Of Conservation, (DOC).

The environment committee is looking for hands and resources to help make a difference in the South Wairarapa's eco system.There are four other action committees in the South Wairarapa Rotary Club - International, Youth and elder care , Martinborough Fair, and the Martinborough Charity Fun Ride. Perhaps one of these piques your interest.
